OBITUARY.

MARTIN.

At her home, 216 East Fifth street Thursday morning at 9:00 o'clock occurred the death of Mary E., wife of Frank A. Martin, long connected with the W.B. Wiley grocery, after a lingering illness from consumption.

Deceased was nineteen years of age, having been born at Rock Island Oct. 14, 1876, and has resided in Davenport for the past four years. She was married to Frank A. Martin Oct. 23, 1893 at Kenosha, Wis., who survives to mourn her loss.

Besides her husband she is survived by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Rose, and three sisters, Carry, Oney at home and Mrs. A. C. Knocke of Rock Island. She was of a lovable disposition and stood high in the esteem of her many friends who looked upon her as a type of all that was good and lovely in Christian maidenhood and maturer womanhood. During her long illness she bore up with a cheerfulness and fortitude which were truly Christian. In her death her genial husband has suffered a shock which his many friends regret, and in the hour of trial he has the sympathy of all.

The funeral took place at 2 o'clock Saturday from her residence, 216 East 5th street, Rev. Luce officiating. Interment will be in Oakdale.

*Oney is typed as it in the publication. I'm not sure if that is the intended name or a typo.
