OBITUARY.

Eseke.

Bernhardt Eseke, one of Davenport's old citizens, died yesterday afternoon of cancer of the stomach, after a long illness. Mr. Eseke was born in Gross Bodenhagen, Prussia, 63 years ago. He came to this country in 1849 and settled in Walcott in 1856. He was a veteran of the late war, having enlisted in Company E, Twentieth Iowa infantry in 1863 and serving until the close. He was street commissioner of Davenport for seven years. He leaves four children, his wife having died about two years ago. The funeral will be held at Walcott Wednesday from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Alex. Stockdale.
