OBITUARY.

WELLS.

Howard Wells, a well known citizen of Rock Island, died last night at 6:45 o'clock after a long and tedious illness. Mr. Wells was born in Madison, Indiana, April 10, 1846. His family moved to Bloomington, Illinois, when he was 6 years old. They settled in Rock Island in 1853 and with the exception of a few years Mr. Wells has lived there since, having engaged in the hardwood lumber business, Mr. Wells leaves a wife and child and his aged father survives him. He was a stanch, hard hitting Republican and but a few weeks ago was removed from the Rock Island post office by Cleveland. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon from the family residence.
