OBITUARY.

MUELLER.

The sudden death of Ernest A. Mueller an estimable citizen and hard worker, was heard with sorrow yesterday by many friends, and particularly by old war comrades here. He had long been a sufferer with the hernia, and recently was struck in the stomach by a piece of board, but with no serious result at the time. He had for many years been in the employ of the Mueller Saw Mill company, although not related to the Mueller family, filled a responsible position, and enjoyed the respect of his employees and fellow workmen. Last Saturday afternoon he was compelled to quite work by his ailings, and reporting at the office, seemed to feel that his time had come. Taken to his home, 1925 W. Fourth street, he became worse during the night, and although with good medical attendance and every care, soon died.

Mr. Mueller was about 55 years old, and leaves a wife and grown son and daughter, with a brother employed at Lindsay & Phelps' saw mill. He settled in Davenport before the war, and on information here of the 16th Iowa infantry, enlisted in Co.B., Capt. Stuhr, did brave and faithful duty during the war, and was honorable discharged at its clos. He was once wounded, but only two months ago was placed on the pension list for the disability under which he had so long suffered. He was a comrade of the G.A.R., and color bearer of the August Wentz Post Guard--faithful to his duty as a veteran, as in the war a soldier. His funeral may not take place till next Sunday as to enable his fellow workmen and comrades to be present, in full force.
