Obituary

WIRTEL.

J.W. Wirtel died at his residence 1416 East Front street at 12:30 yesterday afternoon. Six months ago his son John passed away, and since that time Mr. Wirtel had been failing. The seat of the disease was in the liver, and from this cause he gradually wasted away.

Mr. Wirtel was born in Prague, Austria, and came to this county when 12 years old, settling in St. Louis. In that city in 1854 he married Elizabeth Voita, and she and one daughter Josie, survive him. He was a veteran of the war, having served in Company C, First Missouri Volunteers. In 1869 he removed to Davenport and has lived her ever since.
