Obituary

LAMP.

The many friends of Peter Lamp will be surprised and deeply grieved to hear of his death, which occurred Tuesday at 12:30 after an illness lasting but a little over a week. He was taken with a severe cold on Sunday, Nov. 8, which settled on his lungs and with heart trouble, from which he has suffered for some time, caused his sudden death. Last Sunday he celebrated the 68th anniversary of his birth. He came to Davenport in 1848 and went into the hardware business with Robert Sickels. In 1872 e sold his interest and went into business with Rudolph Schieber, When Mr. Schieber died about four years ago the Peter Lampe Iron Co. was formed.

Mr. Lamp was a man who paid the strictest attention to every detail of his business and bering perfectly honorable in his dealing made many warm friends and was on of the principal things leading to his success.

He leaves a wife and one daughter Mrs. Emma Lage, to mourn his sudden death.
