Obituary

DIED--In Davenport, on Tuesday, 22 inst., of disease of the heart, ADELINE, consort of Mr. Edwin Coombs, aged 25 years, 3 months, and 1 day.

The subject of the foregoing notice suffered, during her last illness, far beyond the measure which commonly falls to the lot of mortals. At no time, perhaps, during the long and painful illness, might it be said that she suffered not. But in the midst of her afflictions she was made happy in the recognition of an all-sufficient Savior, permit to be brought in compassion with her own.

In her, her parents have lost a dutiful and affectionate daughter, and her husband a fond an loving wife, Of her loss to society generally, let those who knew her speak. But since our loss is her gain, and since she had no wish to live for her own sake, having rather a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better, we will not--we dare not murmur. God, who is merciful and kind, will temper the winds to each shorn lamb.
