Obituary

Parkhurst

Another of the old settlers of Scott county has gone to join that great throng of those who have crossed the dark river of death. Mrs. Emeline Parkhurst, widow of Waldo Parkhurst, who died in 1888. Mrs. Parkhurst was born in St. Lawrence county, N.Y., in 1820, and in 1840 accompanied her parents to the then far west. A year after coming to Iowa she was united in marriage with the late Waldo Parkhurst. She taught school in Pleasant Valley, and in LeClaire, and according to the custom "boarded round" with her pupils. She was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother and for years a patient sufferer.

She leaves two children, Ald. M.K. Parkhurst and Miss Mary E. Parkhurst and three brothers and one sister to mourn her death.

The funeral takes place this, (Tuesday) afternoon from the late residence, 1905 Summit avenue.
