Obituary
MENAUGH
D.F. Menaugh died at the home of his sister, Mrs. A.E. Carroll. 1719 Farnam street, at one o'clock Sunday morning, after an illness covering a period of five years. Mr. Menaugh was born in St. Louis, Mo., Feb. 10, 1863. His father, Captain Hugh Menaugh was engaged in the steamboat during the boyhood days of D.F. Menaugh, and he followed in his footsteps in the early part of his life.
Nearly 25 years ago he moved to Helena, Ark., where in company with Davenport business acquaintances he organized the Helene Ice Co., and built a plant for the manufacture of artificial ice. Mr. Menaugh was for a great many years the manager of that company and made his home in the South until his health failed. He was a man of most kindly disposition and possessed of true Southern hospitality, and found great enjoyment with his many friends. He was very fond of outdoor life, taking special delight in hunting and fishing. He served several terms as alderman in the City Council at Helena, Ark., and took active part in all civic affairs. He was a member of the A.O.U.W., the Elks and Knight of Columbus. Mr. Menaugh is survived by two sisters. Mrs. A.E. Carroll and Mrs. Julia A. Menaugh.
The funeral will take place Tuesday, from the home of his sister. Mrs. A.E. Carroll, 1719 Farnam street, at 8:30 with services at Sacred Heart Cathedral, and burial will take place at St. Marguerite's cemetery.
