Gwendolyn E. Clewell, 84, of Winterset died of a heart ailment Thursday at Winterset Care Center North. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa, of which she was a member. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.

Mrs. Clewell was born in Marinette, Wis., and lived in Oskaloosa before moving to Winterset. She was a member of Women's Christian Temperance Union.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Abbas of Bloomfield; two sons, James of St. Charles and Richard of Davenport; two sisters, Leona Atsch of Milwaukee, Wis., and Shirley Adamec of Downers Grove, Ill.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Home in Oskaloosa, where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Des Moines (IA) Register or The Newton (IA) Daily News, Fri 11 July 1997
