Dudley Williams, one of Scott county's most respected citizens, breathed his last at his home, near Walnut Grove, on the 22d inst. at 1 oclock. Services were held at the Methodist church near the Grove and was largely attended by mourning friends. His lingering sickness had long warned his friends o prepare for the worst, but even then the news of his death seemed had to realize and it seemed that the life so well spent and the man so well loved could not have passed away leaving nothing but the memory of his many virtues in the place in the place of his ever welcomed face.

Dudley A. Williams was born in Niagara county, New York, Nov. 17th, 1819. He came to Walnut Grove at an early date and has long been loved and respected as one of our most worthy citizens. Death has been a frequent guest at his home as five little graves in the cemetery will atest, and long after the sod has grown green over this last addition to the mother and widow's sorrow and the face once so familiar is found only on the walls of memory's hall we will remember and cherish still the life of the truest friend, the kindest neighbor, and most worthy man that ever departed from our midst.
