Riverdale, Iowa - Lillian J. "Tootie" Spratt, 73, a resident of Riverdale, Iowa, died on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Trinity Bettendorf after a brief, but brave, battle with cancer.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Family graveside services will take place Monday, December 20, 2010, at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family or Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City.

She was born June 21, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of William and Claribel (Watkins) Kosgard and graduated from Lourdes Elementary School in Bettendorf. On April 20, 1968, she was united in marriage to Jack Spratt in Andalusia, Illinois.

Tootie was employed in the Sterile Processing Department of the former St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport, retiring in May 2002 after 35 years of faithful service.

She enjoyed bowling, working with ceramics, but above all, her family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the joy of her life. Tootie's memory will always remain alive in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Jack; her daughters, Deb (Frank) McNeil of Bettendorf and Cyndee (Dr. Thomas) Clayton of Seneca, Pennsylvania; her son, Steve Spratt of Bettendorf; her grandchildren, Minoru (Tomoko) Spratt-Underhill, Tracy Spratt-Underhill, Michael (Jen) Collins, Rebecca Clayton, Holly McNeil and Jennifer McNeil; her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Kyler Collins, Lana and Leo Spratt-Underhill and Brooklyn McNeil; her sister, Katherine (A.P.) Turner of Belvidere, South Carolina; her brothers, William Kosgard and Jack Kosgard, both of Davenport; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.

Tootie was preceded in death by her son, Michael Spratt, her sister, Mary Jane McMahon, her stepbrothers, Herb Steiger and Jim Steiger, her mother and father, and her stepfather, Herb Steiger.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Trinity for their compassionate and professional care shown to Tootie during her illness.
