BETTENDORF – Services for Alice Watkins, 80, a resident of Luther Manor, formerly of Pleasant Valley, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pleasant Valley. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at McGinnis Chambers and Sass Funeral Home, and one hour before service time at the church.

She died Wednesday at Davenport Medical Center.

Memorials may be made to the church, of which she was a lifetime member and former financial secretary.

She was a 1927 graduate of the former Browns Business College, Davenport.
She had been employed from 1927-1946 by the Davenport office of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. as an executive secretary for Carl LeBuhn.

Alice Hesse married Harry Watkins in 1930 in Pleasant Valley. He died in 1971.

She was past matron of the LeClaire chapter of Order of Eastern Star, past president and member of Pleasant Valley High School PTA and a member of Lutheran Church Women.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Mrs. Mark) Rohner, Silver Spring, Md.; four grandchildren; and a brother, Orville Hesse, Sebring, Fla.
