BETTENDORF -- Merle E. Watkins, Phoenix, formerly of Bettendorf, died Monday, April 9, 2001, in Phoenix. No services are planned.

Merle Watkins was born April 1, 1921, in Bettendorf.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jonesville Athletic Booster, Jonesville High School, Jonesville, MI 49250.

Survivors include his wife, Forsia Lauretta; his daughters, Marna Fenicle, Glendale, Ariz., Karen Hileski, Kalamazoo, Mich., and Debbie Smith, Litchfield, Mich.; his sons, Michael, Horton, Mich., James, Jackson, Mich., Murray, Van Buren, Ohio, and John, Mesa, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty Getty, Bettendorf; and a brother, Thomas, Apache Junction, Ariz.
