At the age of 81 years, after a brief illness, Rudolph Koch succumbed at 4:30 o'clock yesterday morning at his home, 503 West Sixteenth street.

The aged man was born in Holstein, Germany, in 1831, and came to the United States in 1853, direct to Davenport, where he was married to Miss Katherine Gertz shortly after his arrival. Immediately after the union the couple removed to Lincoln township, where Mr. Koch conducted a farm until seven years ago, when he retired. Mrs. Koch preceded her husband in death by three years, she having passed away in 1909. He is survived by nine children, Mrs. Caroline Balhorn, Mrs. Christine Jahn, Mrs. Matilda Kreiter, Mrs. Laura Kuehl and John, Henry, Rudolph and Walter Koch.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the late home, with interment in Pine Hill cemetery.
