Aged Resident of Eldridge Is Dead

Mrs. Marie Wiese, 92 years old, a resident of Scott county the last 76 years, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday at her home in Eldridge after an extended illness. She was the widow of Henry Wiese, whose death occurred in April, 1903.

She was born in Germany, Nov. 12, 1841, and came to this country, direct to Scott country, with her parents when she was 16 years old. She was married to Mr. Wiese at Mt. Joy in 1866, and the couple settled on a farm in Lincoln township, later moving to Davenport township. Two years following her husband's death she moved to Eldridge, where she was affectionately known as Grandma Wiese. She was of Lutheran faith.

Surviving are four sons, Peter, Fred and John Wiese of Eldridge, and Henry of Davenport, rural route No. 4; four daughters, Mrs. Betty Eckermann and Mrs. Adolph Kuhl of Eldridge, Mrs. Theodore Reimers of Wilton and Mrs. Adolph Koch of Davenport; 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Hill and Fredericks mortuary chapel. Burial will be in Pine Hill cemetery.
