Sunday at 11:50 p.m. occurred the death of Detlef Hauschildt at his residence 705 West Second street. Mr. Hauschildt had been suffering for many years with asthma and rheumatism, but was not confined to his bed. He was taken suddenly ill during the night. His wife arose to get his medicine but on her return to his side he was dead, as heart failure had ensued. Mr. Hauschildt was born in Raistorf near Preetz in Holstein about 74 years ago. He came to the United States in 1847 and on Oct. 17, 1852, married Miss Christina Schlichting, his present bereaved wife. He at first engaged in the wagon making business, but in 1857 bought a farm in Rockingham township, which he managed until 1876, when he came to town to live.
The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.
