The Davenport Democrat & Leader; Tuesday Evening, March 28, 1922:
Mrs. Margaret M. Douglas, mother of Mrs. H. A. Skelley, died this morning at 4:45 at the home of Mrs. Skelley, 2127 Farnam street, after an illness which commenced last Thursday.
She was born Dec. 24, 1859, in Aurora, Ill., and was 62 years of age. When she was 15 years of age, the family removed to Ottumwa, where she resided 32 years, thereafter coming to Davenport 16 years ago. She was exceedingly active in the affairs of her church, St. Paul the Apostle's, and belonged to the Court of Honor, St. Ann's sewing society, Altar and Rosary society, Christ Child society, Ladies Auxiliary of the A. O. H.
Surviving are two daghters, Mrs. H. A. Skelley, and Miss Mae Douglas, both of Davenport, two step-sisters, Mrs. Dora Erbacher of Bruswick, Ga., and Mrs. James Rees of Des Moines, Iowa. Mrs Douglas was a sister of the late Mrs. P. B. Muhphy [sic - Murphy?] who preceded her in death two years ago at Ottumwa, Iowa.
The body was removed to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home, and will be brought home this evening. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 8:30 from the home, 2127 Farnam street, with services 9 o'clock at St. Paul the Apostle church. Interment will be in St. Marguerite's cemetery.
