HENRY KREITER, LONG RESIDENT OF COUNTY, DIES

Farmed at Mt. Joy for 30 Years; Retired to Davenport

Henry Kreiter, 69, a resident of Scott county since he was three years old, died at 2:30 a. m. Sunday in the University hospital, Iowa City, after an illness of two months.

Mr. Kreiter was born in Steubenville, Ohio, Jan. 8, 1863, and came to Iowa with his parents three years later, living on Brady street road. He married Alvina England March 9, 1882, in Davenport and operated a farm near Mt. Joy from 1890 to 1920, when he retired and moved to Davenport.

Surviving are the widow, two sisters, Mrs. Charles Lau and Mrs. F. G. Hauer of Davenport; three brothers, Charles, John and William Kreiter, all residents of Scott county; 21 nieces and nephews and 19 grand-nieces and grand-nephews. One sister, Mrs. Frances Wiese, died in 1912.

The body was taken to the Runge mortuary and will be returned to the family home, 2213 Iowa street, Tuesday morning and brought to the mortuary at 10 a. m. Wednesday, the funeral services to be held in the chapel at 2 p. m. Burial will be in Pine Hill cemetery.
