BETTENDORF - Virginia I. Peters, 78, of Bettendorf died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at home. Funeral services will be at Runge Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family.
Virginia was born December 22, 1930, in Rome, Iowa, the daughter of George and Gladys Mercer. She was united in marriage to Wayne M. Peters in 1947 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport. He preceded her in death in 1979.
She was a homemaker and a very loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing bingo, camping and fishing.
Those left to honor her memory are sons, Wayne Jr. and wife, Velma Jean Peters, Davenport, Ronald and wife, Doris Peters, East Moline, and Jay and wife, Vickie Peters, of Florida; daughter, Susan and husband, Bill Baumbach, Pleasant Valley; nine grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Mercer, Fairfield, Iowa; and a very special friend, Wilbur Godfrey, Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Darrel and James Mercer.
