LONG GROVE, Iowa - Mike Twigg, 63, of Long Grove, died Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Genesis West Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 20, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St Ann's Catholic Church in Long Grove. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary and one hour prior to the service at St Ann's Church, Long Grove. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in his memory for a memorial fund to be established at a later date.
Michael was born September 2, 1943, in Davenport, the son of Clyde and Hazel (Umbdenstock) Twigg. He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Charlene Noel on February 4, 1967, in Long Grove. He was employed as a Machinist Supervisor for the Rock Island Arsenal for 32 years, retiring in 1997. He most recently worked at Hidden Hills Golf Course prior to his illness. He was a member of St. Ann's Church, the Donahue American Legion and the VFW Post #528. He loved to golf, bowl, play bingo and watch baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs. His greatest joy was attending the events of his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Charlene, Long Grove; son, Lonnie (Natalie) Twigg, Eldridge; daughters, Lori (Warren) Ewoldt, Long Grove, and Lea (Eric) Rains, Eldridge; grandchildren, Jordanne, Nate, Zachary, Moriah, Markisa, Morgun, Makylee, Malainie, Mashaila, Alyssa, Faith and Dana; brothers, John "Jack" (Anna) Twigg, Chicago, and Darrell, Walcott; sister, Vicki Kearney, Eldridge; brothers-in-law, Bill Kagemann, Lost Nation, and Les (Julie) Martzahn, Long Grove; and a sister-in-law, Carol Twigg, Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Dennis, David, and Larry, and sisters, Pam Kagemann and Nina Martzahn.
