Sunday morning at 7 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs. Michael Lillis, at her home in Long Grove. Mrs. Lillis was born in Kingston, Canada, June 10th, 1847, being the daughter of Daniel and Catherine Tierney. On July 26th, 1868 she was married to her husband who survives her, and with him came to Scott county that year, and resided here ever since. Besides her husband, deceased leaves six daughters and two sons, and one brother Mr. M. J. Tierney of Chicago.

Mrs. Lillis had a large circle of warm friends who sincerely regret her loss, and join the bereaved family in mourning for a good and true wife, mother and friend.

The funeral occurred Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Anne's church. The pastor, Rev. P. J. Merrin, officiated at the requiem Mass and preached an eloquent funeral sermon, in which he dwelt on the lessons taught by death and paid a feeling tribute to the memory of the departed. There was a very large attendance at the funeral, testifying to the general esteem of the deceased. The pall bearers were Messrs. T. J. Glynn, Patrick Murphy, John Ennis, Daniel Harrigan, Thomas Harrison and John Showalter. Interment was made in St. Anne's cemetery.
