82 Year Old Resident Of City Is Dead

Mrs. Mary Schneider Was Highly Respected Citizen.

Mrs. Mary Schneider, 82 years old, of 513 East Fourteenth street, died Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock after an illness of two weeks' duration. Death was due to a stroke of apoplexy. She was born in Langhrey, Ireland, Feb. 15, 1842, and came to America when 5 years of age, settling in Vermont and later coming to Davenport, where she was united in marriage to Louis H. Schneider at St. Joseph's church, by Rev. Father Nierman.

Six children were born to them, five dying in infancy, and the only surviving child being Mrs. Mary F. Sommers and two grandchildren, Mrs. Cecelia Sommers Horty and Ernest J. Sommers of Davenport. Her husband preceded her in death 17 years ago. One of Davenport's most respected citizens, she was widely known for her loving disposition and charity to all who needed it. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary society of the Sacred Heart Cathedral since it was first organized.

The funeral will be held Friday morning from the home at 8:30 o'clock, with services at Sacred heart Cathedral at 9 o'clock. Interment will be made in St. Marguerite's cemetery.

Deceased is also survived by one brother, Jerome Tinnian, and a sister, Mrs. Prosperi, of Davenport.
