KELLY FUNERAL

The funeral of the late William Kelly was held this morning, from the family residence, 2212 West Fourth street, with services in St. Mary’s church at 9 o’clock, Rev. J. P. Ryan officiating. There was a large attendance and many flowers were sent by the friends of the deceased. The pallbearers were Charles E. Coen, James L. Conway, A. B. Freniar, Daniel Whalen, William Lavery and Edward Osborn. Internment was made in St. Marguerites’s cemetery. Miss Alice O’Connor sang at the offertory of the mass “O Salutaris,” and at the conclusion of the services “There Is a Beautiful Land on High.”

Mr. Kelly, who passed away at 7:20 o’clock Saturday evening, at his home 2212 West Fourth street, was born in Whitten county , England on Dec. 24. 1848. He came to America with his parents during his childhood. The family settled in Hancock county, Ill. Later he served in the war, enlisting at the age of 18. At the close of the war, he came to Rock Island to live with his sister, Mrs. W. J. Cresswell. Later he removed to Davenport, where he has lived ever since. He was engaged in the carpenter business for many years, and later became a contractor and builder, being for some time in partnership with John E. Mahan, the partnership being dissolved in 1896. The new fire station is the last building that Mr. Kelly erected, and it is still awaiting acceptance.

In 1870, he was married to Miss Maria Carr of Davenport. His first wife died on August 2, 1890. He was married to Miss Ida M. Shaw of Davenport on May 14, 1892.

There survive to mourn his loss, besides the widow, five daughters, Mrs. W. F. Finefield of Davenport; Mrs. L.M. Holliday of Des Moines, and the Misses Anne I., Genevieve and Marion Kelly; and three sons, John M. and William V. Kelly of Lees Summit, Mo., and Walter Kelly.

Recently Mr. Kelly went to Lake Okoboji, where he became ill and returned home several weeks ago. He remained ill growing worse until he died.
