Sunday evening at about 8 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs. Mgueritha (sic) Krause Freund. Her death was very sudden and unexpected. While she had not been well it was not thought that anything serious was the matter with her. She suddenly became seriously ill and Dr. J. W. H. Baker was called. Nothing could be done to save her, however, and she soon passed away.

The cause of death was pronounced apoplexia pulmonalis with heart complications.

Deceased has long been a resident of this county and state, and is well and most favorably known among a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. She was born in Bavaria and came to America in the early 50's. She has been a resident of this state for the last 43 years. She was married in the year 1854. She has lived on a farm in Davenport township in the middle road just across Duck creek.

Mrs. Freund is survived by eight children, her husband having died some time ago.

The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at St. Joseph's church, interment at Holy Family cemetery. The hour of the funeral will be announced later.

Mrs. Margueretha Freund Laid to Rest This Morning at Holy Famly (sic)

The funeral of Mrs. Margueritha (sic) Freund occurred this morning from the residence on the northeast middle road with services at St. Joseph's church at 10 o'clock. Rev. A. Niermann, pastor, celebrated solemn requiem high mass. Rev. Boeck of Rock Island officiating as deacon and Rev. Giglinger of this city, sub-deacon. Interment was at Holy Family cemetery. The following were the pall bearers: Victor Maus, Fred Ruhl, Henry Noth, John H. Ruhl, A. Woeber and Joseph Traeger.
