Walter Mahurin Funeral Service Held at Davenport

The funeral services for Walter Homer Mahurin, resident of Muscatine for many years, were held at the Halligan funeral home in Davenport, Tuesday, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. N. J. Peiffer, former pastor of St. Mary's church in Muscatine, in charge, and burial in St. Marguerite cemetery there. His death occurred at Mercy hospital, Davenport, due to a heart ailment.

The son of the Rev. Francis and Mary Bigger Mahurin, he was born in Louisville, Ky., July 21, 1881. He spent his youth in Wapello, where he received his education, and on Feb 6, 1903, married Mary Gertrude Cossman in Muscatine. Most of the remainder of his life was spent here and he was employed as engineer at the Swift & Company plant and for local laundries. He moved to Davenport several years ago, where he was employed at the Bannon laundry.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Mahurin of Davenport, two daughters, Patricia and Josephine of Muscatine; two brothers, Harry of Brookfield, Mo., and Robert of Seattle, Wash. His parents, one sister and one brother preceded him in death.
