August H. Meinhardt, son of Henry Meinhardt prominent Scott county farmer, died suddenly at his home, R. R. 4 Dubuque road, shortly after 8 o'clock last night. Acute double pneumonia was the fatal ailment.

The deceased, who was 25 years old, appeared to be enjoyed (sic) the best of health yesterday and went over his duties as usual. Thursday afternoon he was in Davenport shopping and made no complaint of feeling ill.

His parents stated last night the young man enjoyed a hearty supper and sat around home after eating the meal. About 8 o'clock he went down in the basement to attend the furnace and while so doing, dropped dead. His father rushed to the son's aid but young Meinhardt was dead when his parent reached his side. A post mortem was held at the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home last night which revealed that double pneumonia caused Mr. Meinhardt's untimely death.

Born Oct. 29, 1897, here, August Meinhardt was educated in the rural schools and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic school in this city.

He is survived by his father Henry Meinhardt, and two brothers, John and Antony. The deceased is a nephew of Rev. Nicholas Meinhardt who has a parish in San Antonio, Tex.

Mr. Meinhardt was a member of the Knights of Columbus of this city, who will view the remains at the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home in a body Saturday night at 8 o'clock and say the Rosary and prayers for the dead. Members of the organization will also attend funeral church service.

The funeral will be held Sunday morning from the Ruhl funeral home with services at 11 o'clock at St. Joseph's church. Interment will be made in Holy Family cemetery.
