Word has been received in Davenport of the death of John H. Schmidt at Kansas City. Deceased was born January 6, 1851 and spent his early life in Davenport. He however, has made his residence in Kansas City for the past 40 years. He had been ailing for the last six months.

His father, Louis Schmidt, preceded him in death, here, three years ago. Surviving are one brother, Louis C. Schmidt of Davenport and one sister, Mrs. Lena Meinhardt of Paxico, Kansas. Both were in Kansas City at the time of his death. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The body will arrive in Davenport this evening and will be taken to the home of the brother, Louis Schmidt at 1133 Onieda Ave. Funeral services will probably be held Saturday morning.

The Schmidt Funeral

Funeral services for John J. Schmidt were held Saturday from the home of his brother, Louis Schmidt, 1138 Oneida avenue to Sacred Heart Cathedral at 9 a.m. Rev. John Meinhardt, a nephew of the deceased, of Indian Creek, Mo., was celebrant of the solemn requiem high mass. Very Rev. J. T. A. Flannagan, was deacon and Rev. R. J. Moore, sub deacon. Rev. Flannagan, assisted by the other priests, pronounced the burial absolution.

Pallbearers were George Freund, Pius Mohr, Sam Snider, George Wahlig, Richard Murphy and B. J. Kleinfelder.

Rev. Beecher assisted by Rev. Meinhardt officiated at committal services at St. Marguerite's cemetery.
