Michael F. Werthmann, 221 East Grant street, Bettendorf, died at his home Wednesday night at 7
o’clock after an illness of one week. He was 37 years of age, and was associated with the blacksmith firm of Evans & Werthmann, 111 Ripley street, Davenport.

He was born in Davenport, May 26, 1885, and on May 6, 1909, married Miss Nellie B. Johnson, Rev. L. J. Enright performing the ceremony in Davenport. Mr. Werthmann was a member of the Woodmen of the World.

Those who survive are his wife; his father, Philip Werthmann; three sisters, Mrs. Nicholas Hinz [sic Heinz], Mrs. C. B. Brooman [sic Vrooman], both of Davenport, and Mrs. Ralph Williams of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; and one brother, Herbert Werthmann of Davenport.

The remains were removed to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home, whence the funeral will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 with services at 9 o’clock at Our Lady of Lourdes church, Bettendorf. Interment in Holy Family cemetery will be private, and the family requests that no flowers be sent.

The Werthman Funeral

The funeral of Michael Werthmann was held Saturday morning at 8:30 from the Fred N. Ruhl home with services at 9 o’clock at the church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Bettendorf.

Rev. Stephen Davis celebrated requiem high mass, pronounced the burial absolution, preached the funeral sermon, and officiated at the services at the grave in Holy Family cemetery.

Pallbearers were Richard A. Evans, Andrew Schaekenbach, Earl Nichols, and Andrew, Sebastian and George Werthmann.
