Thin ranks of Scott county pioneers were diminished by one Thesday thru the death of Mrs Anna Francis Eldridge, 93, 1404 East Tenth street, Davenport who died in her home at 6:45 a.m.
Ill for several years, Mrs. Eldridge was one of five remaining members of the Old Settlers' Associaiton, an organization composed of pioneers who settled in Scott county from 1833 to 1844. Antoine LeClaire, founder of Davenport, was first president of the society.
One of his successors to the presidency was Mrs. Eldridge, who served several terms.
Born Feb 24, 1843 in LeClaire, Anna S. Parkhurst received her education there, came to Davenport in 1863 and married Theodore F. [Fortiner]Eldridge, one of the first realtors of the city, in 1865. He died in 1908.
She is survived by one daughter, Miss Cora M. Eldridge at home, and one brother, Alfred B. Parkhurst, Davenport. Two sisters and a daughter preceded in death.
The four other original members of the Old Settler's Association are Mrs. Emma Clark Harrison of Buffalo [Iowa], Dr. Peter Donaldson, Pleasant Valley; Mrs. Melissa Binford 1231 Esplanade avenue, Davenport and Mrs. Mary Snyder, formerly of Dixon, who now makes her home in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Funeral services will be in the Hill & Fredericks chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday with burial in Oakdale cemetery.
