Old Resident Scott County Dies at Home
Mrs. Helena Schneckloth, 44 Years Here, Succumbs to Illness
Mrs. Helena Schneckloth, for 44 years a resident of Scott county died Wednesday noon after a lingering illness at her home in Sheridan township, six miles east of Eldridge.
Mrs. Schneckloth was born in Heide, Germany, July 25, 1864 and came to Davenport at the age of 18. Two years later she was married to Mr. H. H. Schneckloth and the couple moved to a farm in the vicinity of Eldridge.
They had lived on the farm where they are now located for 24 years and had planned to retire in the spring and make their home in Davenport.
Beside her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Warner Scherz and Mrs. S. B. Sharrett of Davenport; two sons Edwin and Raymond living at home; three sisters, Mrs. Peter Woolmert in Germany; Mrs. Anna Mueller and Mrs. August Mangels of Davenport; and nine grandchildren.
The remains were taken to Nissen and Hartwig mortuary and will be returned to the home Saturday morning. Services will be held from there Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
Interment will be in Pine Hill cemetery.
