Weetz

John Weetz, age 71, for 50 years a resident of Davenport, died at 10:45 a.m. today at the home of his son J. F. Weetz, 1936 West Fourth street. He had been in ill health for about a year.
Mr. Weetz was born on Jan. 29, 1845 in Holstein, Germany. In 1873 he married Maria Harms and a few years later came to America and to Davenport at once. The death of his wife occurred here on Feb. 28, 1910.
He was a member of Krieger-Verein, a German army organization, and of the German Lutheran church.
Surviving him are three sons, John, Charles and Frank, three daughters, Mrs. William Bruhn, Mrs. Dennis Finley, and Mrs. C. V. Lorainn [?], all of Davenport; one brother Hiram, Jackson, Minn, one sister, Mrs. Claus Jurend, 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at the home of his son, 1936 West Fourth street, Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Fairmount cemetery.
