MOTHER DIES 2 DAYS AFTER SON'S DEATH
Mrs. Theresa Epping, Davenport Resident Many Years, Dead.
Mrs. Theresa Epping, a resident of Davenport for many years, died at 12:30 o'clock this morning at her home, just north of Holy Family cemetery. Her death followed an extended illness.
Her son, Joseph Epping, of DeWitt, died Wednesday at Iowa City. He will be buried Saturday in Holy Family cemetery, and his mother will be buried there Tuesday.
Born in Hanover, Germany, April 1, 1854, Theresa Lager came to Davenport with her parents when she was 19 years old. Here she was married to Theodore Epping, Feb. 2, 1874, the ceremony performed at St. Joseph's church by the late Rt. Rev. Msgr. A. Niermann. Mr. Epping died March 27, 1926.
Mrs. Epping was a member of St. Joseph's church, and of the Christian Mothers society there. Surviving are two sons, George and John Epping of Davenport; one daughter, Mrs. Charles Moore, also of Davenport; four sisters, Mrs. Henry Gerken, Mrs. Henry Spies and Miss Christina Lager of Davenport and Mrs. Mary Gallagher of Wisconsin; a brother, Ben Lager of Davenport; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home and will be returned to the late residence Sunday afternoon. Funeral services will be held there at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and at 9 at St. Joseph's church.
