Mrs. Amelia M. Hughes, 72, of 511 E. High St., Davenport died at 5 p.m. Saturday in Mercy hospital following an illness of the last year.

She was born in Johnson county, Ia., May 28, 1883, the daughter of the late Rebecca and William Evans. She attended Johnson county schools and married Harvey E. Hughes, Jan. 14, 1908 in Iowa City. She had resided in Davenport since 1928 and was a member of the Nazarene church.

Surviving are her husband; three sons, Cecil M., Alvin E., and Gail C., all of Davenport; ten grandchildren; and a brother, Louis, Detroit. Two daughters, three brothers, and three sisters preceded in death.

Arrangements are pending at the Runge Mortuary.
