OBIT:
Mrs. Walter Scott, 71, of 2104 Main St., Davenport, widow of a former Davenport attorney, Walter Howell Scott, died unexpectedly at 10a.m. Sunday in the home of her son, John F. Scott, after a brief illness.
Born in Pontiac, Ill, the former Beatrice Whalen was married to Mr. Scott in Washington, D.C. in 1918. He died in 1939. Mrs. Scott had been a resident of Davenport for the last 38 years.
In addition to her son, John, she is survived by another son, Paul J., Bettendorf; three daughters, Mrs. Merle (Andorthy)) Speer and Mrs. Melvin (Therese) Karwath, both of Davenport and Mrs. Merlin (Rose) Pfeiler, Dubuque; two sisters, Sister Mary Raphaelita, Hammond, Ind., and Miss Agnes M. Whalen Los Angeles, Calif; three brothers, Joseph and Carl Whalen, both of Pontiac, Ill., and John Whalen, Spring Valley, Ill; and 29 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30a.m. Wednesday in the Halligan Funeral Home and at 9 A.M. in St. Paul the Apostle Church. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30pm Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
