Walter Howell Scott, 52, 126 W. 16th St, Davenport attorney and son of the late George W. Scott, former mayor of Davenport, died at 4:20a.m. Monday at Pine Knoll sanitarium after a year's illness.
He practiced law in Davenport with his father in the firm of Scott & Scott except for the duration of the war when he practiced in Washington, D.C. He had lived in Davenport for 44 years.
Mr. Scott was born in Bismark, N.D., Oct 4, 1887, and was educated in the Sacred Heart parochial school and St. Ambrose academy here. He received his A.B. and master degrees at Creighton university, Omaha, and then attended the Creighton law school. He was married to Beatrice Whalen, June 22, 1918, in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Scott was a member of Sacred Heart cathedral.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, John and Paul, and three daughters, Andorthy, Therese and Rose, all at home; two brothers, George W. Scott, Davenport, and Sylvester H. Scott, Clinton; three sisters, the Misses Maris Stella, Coaina M. and Eunice M. Scott , all of Davenport.
The body is at the Halligan funeral home where funeral services will be held at 8:30a.m. Wednesday to Sacred Heart cathedral at 9a.m. Burial will be in St. Marguerite's cemetery.
