Man Dies While at Work Early This Morning
Rudolph Hoffman Found Dead in Laboratory Locomotive Works

Rudolph Hoffman, 69, of 2207 Rockingham road, was found dead in the laboratory of the Davenport Locomotive Works at 7:45 o’clock this morning, about an hour after he had gone down to work. The cause of death was heart trouble according to the coroner.
Mr. Hoffman had gone down to the Locomotive Works where he has been employed as shop sweeper, and was working in the laboratory. About 7:45 another employee went to the laboratory for materials and found Mr. Hoffman sitting on a chair and leaning against the wall–dead.
He has been making his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Crain.
Deceased was born in Davenport, October 10, 1854 and lived here his whole life. March 16, 1881, he was united in marriage to Miss Frieda Wumrath, who preceded him in death in 1919.
Surviving are two children, Louis of Davenport and Mrs. Chester Crain, with whom he made his home.
Funeral services will be held from the Halligan Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock and interment will be made in Fairmount cemetery.
