Benshoof

Mrs. Irene Benshoof, nee, Miller, residing in the vicinity of Blue Grass since 1891, passed away at her home, one and one half miles west of Blue Grass, where she has lived for the past seven years, Monday morning at 10:25 o’clock. She had been confined to her bed the past six weeks, her death terminating a lingering illness.

The deceased was born January 17, 1874 in Manhattan, Kas. At the age of one year she came to Scott county from Manhattan with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Peter Miller, and received her education in the schools of the county. On September 10, 1891, she was united in marriage to Scott Benshoof, and they immediately established their home near Blue Grass.

Besides her husband the following children survive; Mrs. C. R. Chambliss of Durant, Ia., Ira Benshoof of Blue Grass, Bert Benshoof of Davenport, Ralph Benshoof of Kansas, Floyd, Helen, George and Irene all at home. Mrs. Benshoof’s thoughts were always centered about her home and with her family. She leaves to mourn her a demise host of friends. [sic]

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o’clock from the home west of Blue Grass, and interment will follow in the Blue Grass cemetery.

Benshoof Funeral

Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Benshoof were held Thursday afternoon from the home west of Blue Grass. Rev. C. K. Gillum of Davenport, and Rev. Kunkel of Blue Grass conducted the services, Rev. Gillum officiating at the home and at the interment in Blue Grass cemetery. Mrs. J. H. Davis and Miss Lillian Mesecher, both of Davenport, sang “Jesus Savior of My Soul” and “In the Garden.”

The ladies who had charge of flowers were Mrs. Emma Pahl, Miss Gladys Chambliss, Miss Esther Mounts, Miss Olga Schroeder, Miss Opal Pahl and Miss Mamie Plett.

Pallbearers were Charley Plett, George Nugent, Johannes Voxx, Lincoln Fridley, Richard Schroeder and Charley Ehrecke.
