N. Denklau of Eldridge Dies This Morning
Invalid for Several Years, Old Resident Passes Away
Eldridge, Ia., Jan. 20. - Nicolaus Denklau, old resident of this community, died this morning at 8:10 o’clock, at his home here after a lingering illness, being invalided for many years. For the past two years he has been unable to leave the house, and since last Monday he has been bed ridden. His wife passed away on New Year’s day, 1925.
Deceased was born in Germany, May 10, 1853, and came to Scott county at the age of 16 years. He was married 50 years ago to Mrs. Amalia Diederich, and the couple settled on a farm east of Eldridge, from which they retired 20 years ago, moving to Eldridge.
The following children survive; Louis Klindt, Mrs. Minnie Stoltenberg, William Klindt, Gus Denklau, Mrs. Herman Moeller, Mrs. Rudolph Amhof, Mrs. Herman Grill, Otto Denklau, and Mathilda, who is at home. Four brothers also survive being Fritz, Matthes, Jacon [sic], and Christian, all of Fort Dodge.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the home in Eldridge and interment will be made in Pine Hill cemetery.

Denklau Funeral
The funeral of Nicolaus Denklau was held Friday afternoon from the late home in Eldridge, Ia.
Rev. J. A. Miller of St. Paul’s Lutheran church, Davenport, officiated at the home and at the interment in Pine Hill cemetery. The body was laid beside that of his wife who preceded him in death recently.
Mrs. J. A. Miller, accompanied by Rev. Miller, sang “Abide with Me” and “Face to Face.”
The pallbearers were the following immediate relatives: Louis Klindt, Edward Stoltenberg, Gustave Denklau, Rudolph Amhof, Herman Grill and Otto Denklau.
