Life Long Resident of County Dies

Charles Rochau, Retired Farmer , Is Summoned After Short Illness

Charles Rochau, 71 years old, and a life long resident of Scott county, died at his residence, 2134 Harrison street, Wednesday evening at 11:30 o’clock. His death terminated a short illness of pneumonia.

The deceased was born Dec. 5, 1853 on his parents’ farm on the Green Tree road in Scott county, being the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Rochau. He received his education in the schools of the county, and was a life-long member of the Lutheran church. On Feb. 14, 1880, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Detlef at Davenport, and soon moved on a farm of his own where they resided until 22 years ago when he retired and established his home at the present address in Davenport.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, H. H. Rochau of Davenport, and A. D. Rochau of Fairfax, Okla., two daughters, Mrs. H. S. Schutter and Mrs. H. H. Priester, both of Davenport, two sisters, Mrs. A. Bogelt and Mrs. E. Dengler, both of Davenport, and two brothers, John and Louis, both of Scott county.

Funeral services will be held from the late home, 2134 Harrison street, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. J. A. Miller officiating. Interment will take place in Oakdale cemetery.

Rochau Funeral

Funeral services for Charles Rochau were held Saturday afternoon from the late home, 2134 Harrison street, with Rev. J. A. Miller of the English Lutheran church, officiating. Interment occurred in Oakdale cemetery.

Pallbearers were George and William Trye, George Thomsen, Adolph Ruymann, F. G. Redler, and Louis Westphal.
