The Davenport Democrat and Leader; Thursday Evening, January 1, 1925:

Denklau

Mrs. Amalia Denklau died at her home in Eldridge this morning at 3:15 o’clock after a lingering illness.

The deceased was born in Germany on December 18, 1835, and came to Scott county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Diederick when a small child. She was untied in marriage to Nicolaus Denklau in 1874, and they have been farming near Eldridge the past 20 years.

She is survived by her husband and the following children; Lois Klindt and Mrs. Stoltenberg of Eldridge, William Klindt of Mt. Pleasant, Ia., Gustav Denklau, Mrs. Emma Moeller, Mrs. Meta Amhof, Mrs. Laura Grill, Tillie and Otto Denklau.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at two o’clock from the home. Interment will take place in the Pine Hill cemetery.
