The (Davenport, IA) Daily Gazette; Monday Morning, March 29, 1880:

Brownlie

Another of Scott county’s old settlers had been gathered home. Mrs. Robert Brownlie, wife of the well known farmer and pioneer of Long Grove, died Friday, of pneumonia. Mrs. Brownlie was a native of Scotland and came to Iowa with her husband in 1840, settling on the farm which they have ever since tilled. She was a member of the Christian church of Long Grove and was nearly seventy years of age. Her funeral, yesterday, was attended by a very large umber of friends, and the funeral procession was the longest ever known in Winfield township. Her bereaved husband lies at present very near death’s door, from the effects of a paralytic stroke.
