The (Davenport) Daily Gazette; Wednesday Morning, February 18, 1880:

French

The funeral services of Mr. D. W. French took place this forenoon from the 1st M. E. church.

Mr. French was one of our most esteemed and respectable citizens. He moved to this place in 1841, from Licking county, Ohio, and was justly entitled one of the pioneers of this country. Although suffering from the effects of an attack of cholera in 1834, at which time his parents died of the same disease, yet he was an active worker in all public business enterprises.

In __? he was a model of uprightness and fair dealing; a kind father; a beloved husband, and a much respected neighbor.
