The Davenport Democrat - 7 July 1947: Abe Andrew Gimar, 85, 421 West Fourth Street, died at 4:45 a.m. Monday following an illness of the past two years. He was born in Hickory Grove Township, Jan. 14, 1862, attended the rural schools and was married to Anna F. Carstens in Davenport, April 2, 1883. She died in October 1911, and he later married Mrs. Polly Saxton of Calamus. She also preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Archie F., Davenport, and five grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Hazel Atkinson, died in 1931. Funeral services will be held in the Runge chapel at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday followed by burial in City cemetery.
