Janssen

The death of Charles M. Janssen occurred Sunday afternoon at his home, 2012 Mitchell street, after a brief illness.

He was born in Lutjenbegr [sic], Schleswig-Holstein, and was a veteran of the war of 1848-49. He emigrated to this country in the year 1850. For five years, he served as a soldier in the army of this country, fighting against the Indians in Texas. Before coming to Davenport to reside, he lived at Bunker Hill. He was employed at Chris. Mueller & Son’s saw mill, and also Ranzow’s Butchery, and for the past seven years has been retired.

He is survived by his wife, three children, one brother, and grandchildren and relatives.

The funeral will be held this afternoon from the late home with interment at Fairmount cemetery.
