Tuesday, June 24, 1902:

Bornemann

At his home at Gilbert, Sunday morning at 11 o’clock, occurred the death of Gustav Bornemann, at the age of 68 years. Apoplexy was the cause of his death.

He was born at Hanover, Germany on Oct. 12, 1834, and received a splendid education in his youth. For many years he conducted at tavern at Gilbert, known as “Borneman’s Place.”

Besides his wife, Ida, there survived six children, one daughter and five sons - Miss Lillie, at home, and Alex, of Chicago, Emil, with the United States Army in the Philippines, Otto, Adolph and Louis Bornemann, of Gilbert.

Alex Bornemann, who has his home at Chicago, was notified of the death of his father, by wire, and arrived in the city shortly after. Besides these, his mother and one brother survive.

The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the late home, with interment at Oakdale cemetery.
