Explosion Victim Funeral will be Saturday Morning

Funeral services for Hugo John Paulsen, who died yesterday afternoon as a result of injuries he sustained from an accident while he was dynamiting rock at the Bettendorf plant in June, will be held Saturday morning. The funeral will be held from the home 2314 West Third street at 9:30 o’clock with services at St. Alphonsus church at 10 o’clock.

While engaged in dynamiting, on June 23, Mr. Paulsen was struck on the head with a fragment of rock. His death was a result of the injuries sustained at the time.

Born at Welton, Ia., January 22, 1899, Mr. Paulsen moved to Davenport eight years ago. He was married to Miss Nona Hansen by Father Reinhold at St. Alphonsus church on August 6, 1918. The wife, Mrs. Nona Paulsen, the mother Mrs. Anna Margaret Paulsen and three sisters, Mrs. L. G. Skelly, of Detroit, Mich., and Miss Clettis and Cora of Welton, survive.

The body was taken to the Fred N. Ruhl Funeral Home, but will be removed to the family home on West Third street tonight.
