Kroeger & Schultz

Father-in-law and Father Die in Same Week

William A. Schultz Passed Away While Visiting in Michigan

Both father and father-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Kroeger, of this city, passed away this week, when Johannes Kroeger, the well-known lay-minister of Davenport, died on Tuesday afternoon, a one day illness, and William A. Schultz died this morning at 1:45 o’clock at Ludington, Mich., where he had been visiting relatives. Mr. Schultz is the father-in-law of E. W. Kroeger, the son of Johannes Kroeger.

Mr. Schultz had been visiting relatives in Michigan since June 22, and his home was in Davenport, where he was very well known, and made his home with his daughter. For 22 years he was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal, and had recently been retired.

He was born in Baden, Germany, Oct. 27, 1864, and made his home in Davenport for the past forty years. His wife preceded him in death two years ago.

The survivors are two daughters, Mrs. W. J. Hahn and Mrs. Kroeger, one brother, August Schultz, in and a grandson, Walter Kroeger, Michigan [sic - that sentence makes no sense] and a sister, Mrs. Friedericke Stahl, in Germany.

Deceased was a member of the M. W. A. camp 29 of Rock Island and of the Davenport Fraternal Order of the Eagles, No. 235.

The remains will be brought to Davenport for burial.
