Fritz Meier passed away at his home in Long Grove Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock after a lingering illness of eight weeks. He was born in Germany on Dec. 12, 1844, coming to Scott county ten years later. He was united in marriage to Miss Lena Klindt on Nov. 14, 1870. They settled on a farm east of Eldridge, retiring from active work 13 years ago.

Surviving are his wife; five children, Emil H. of Davenport, Mrs. N. P. Meyer, Hancock, Minn., William of Eldridge, Fred of Minnesota and Edward of Montana; a sister, Mrs. Peter Jenner of South Dakota; one brother, William of Eldridge; and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock at Long Grove, with burial services in the City cemetery.
