OBITUARY

MAU, John J. Died at his home, No. 508 1/2 Brady street, this morning, aged 82 years, of an illness following a stroke of paralysis received a few days ago.

Mr. Mau was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, Oct. 23, 1822, and was a wagonmaker in the old country. He came to Davenport in 1854, where he followed his trade for a number of years. He was married to Margaretha Klahm of this city in 1858. In 1859 he joined the Scott lodge of Odd Fellows, and has remained a steadfast member since that time. He enlisted in the Volunteer Firemen's association in 1864 and in 1870 connected himself with the Northwest Davenport Sick Relief society. For twenty years he has been the faithful janitor of the Odd Fellows building. Besides his wife, Margaretha, there survive four daughters, Mrs. John J. Green, of Des Moines, and Bertha, Augusta and Meta at home.

The funeral will be held at the home, No. 508 1/2 Brady street Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock and will probably be under the auspices of Scott lodge No. 37, I.O.O.F.
